How to Make a Natural Anti-Itch Cream
Itchy skin, whether due to poison ivy, mosquito bites, chicken pox or an allergic reaction, can be unpleasant and lead to broken, bleeding skin. While you can run to the store for a commercial anti-itch cream, save yourself time and money by making your own. Products around the home have been used by many, including those who spend a lot of time in the great outdoors, to relieve and soothe itchy skin.Things You'll Need
- Bowl
- 1 tbsp. baking soda
- 1 tbsp. oatmeal
- 2 tbsp. milk
- Spoon
- Food processor (optional)
- Gauze strips
- Medical tape
- Towel
- 2 aspirin
- Mortar and pestle
Instructions
Combine 1 tbsp. baking soda with 1 tbsp. oatmeal and 2 tbsp. milk in a bowl. Stir the three ingredients to make an anti-itch paste.
Reduce the milk to 1 tbsp. and run all three ingredients through your food processor for a creamier paste.
Smear the cream onto the affected areas. For severe itch, spread the cream onto gauze strips and wrap the affected area with the strips. Secure the gauze strips with a bit of medical tape.
Leave the oatmeal cream on your skin until it feels soothed. Wash off with warm water and pat your skin dry.
Treat remaining itchiness by crushing two aspirins in a mortar and pestle. Add enough water to make a thick paste. Spread the aspirin paste on your skin and allow it to dry there.
