How to Stop Skin Boils
A boil is a painful, pus-filled bump on the skin caused by a bacterial infection; it can spread if not treated effectively. A boil that has spread is a more serious condition called a carbuncle. Boils have several causes, including stress, allergies, toxins and problems with the immune system or thyroid gland. Poor hygiene or nutrition can contribute to the growth of a boil. Boils most commonly form on the face, neck, shoulders, underarms and buttocks. Start treating the boil in its early stages to keep it under control.
Instructions
Wash the infected area with antibacterial soap, then soak it with a hot washcloth. Do this two to three times a day to reduce pain and bring the pus to the surface.
Keep it clean. After the boil has started to drain, keep it clean or the pus may spread the infection and form a carbuncle. Continue washing the area with antibacterial soap, then apply a medicated ointment and bandage. Continue this until the boil heals.
Adjust your diet. A well-balanced diet that contains garlic, fresh fruits and vegetables, fiber and at least 8 cups of water a day is ideal for boosting the immune system and preventing infections. Avoid processed foods, sugars and refined food such as white bread.
