Child with Deep Arm Laceration: First Aid Steps
1. Call 911 or emergency medical services. This is the most important step, as the child may need medical attention immediately.2. Apply pressure to the wound to stop the bleeding. Use a clean cloth, gauze, or your hands to apply pressure directly to the wound. Do not remove the cloth or gauze once it has been applied, as this could dislodge the clot and cause further bleeding.
3. Elevate the injured arm. This will help to reduce swelling and pain.
4. Keep the child calm and still. This will help to prevent further injury and make it easier for the medical team to treat the child.
