Are oxygen and nutrients carried trough the body by lungs?
Oxygen and nutrients are carried throughout the body by the circulatory system, which consists of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The heart pumps oxygenated blood from the lungs to the rest of the body, and deoxygenated blood from the body back to the lungs. The blood vessels transport the blood to and from the heart, and the blood carries the oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body.
The lungs are responsible for gas exchange, which is the process of taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide. The oxygen that we breathe in passes through the lungs and into the bloodstream, while the carbon dioxide that we exhale is removed from the bloodstream and released into the air.
So, while the lungs are involved in the process of gas exchange, they are not responsible for carrying oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. That is the job of the circulatory system.
