Mifepristone & Misoprostol: Understanding Timing & Use
Mifeprex (mifepristone) and Cytotec (misoprostol) are prescription drugs used together to end a pregnancy.
1. Mifepristone: This is taken first and blocks the action of the hormone progesterone, which is needed for a pregnancy to continue.
2. Misoprostol: This is taken 24-48 hours after mifepristone and causes the uterus to contract and empty, expelling the pregnancy tissue.
Therefore, Mifeprex and Cytotec are not taken at the same time.
