Relieve Menstrual Cramps: A Guide to Effective Massage Techniques
Millions of women suffer from painful menstrual cramps. There are many non-medicinal methods of relieving the discomfort. You can relieve menstrual cramps with massage techniques on your own for some relief.
Instructions
Make yourself comfortable by finding a quiet place where you can relax your mind and body to prepare to relieve menstrual cramps with massage.
Place your hands on your abdomen and take a few deep breaths.
Move your hands over your belly button in small circles in a clockwise direction with pressure for about one minute. Increase the size of the circling until you massage the entire abdomen to relieve menstrual cramps with massage.
Put your hands on both sides of the belly button with your thumbs touching and fingers pointed down. Draw a heart using the index fingers of both hands by first pulling up towards the belly button and then down into the original position so that the fingers are back together again. Continue this massage for about one minute.
Bring your hands around to your back and position them just below the ribs. Using a steady pressure, slide your hands down slowly to the top of your hips and use your fingertips to massage the area in small circles beginning in the center of your back, gradually working your way outward.
Slide your hands up just below the ribs and repeat the previous massage technique at least three times.
Shift position from the hips and move your hands to the center of your back, turning your fingers downward. Slide your fingers down until they are in the middle of the tailbone. Make small circles with your fingertips for about one minute to help relieve the menstrual cramps.
