What causes tendon sheath growths?
Tenosynovitis, or inflammation of the tendon sheath, can be caused by a variety of factors, including:
* Overuse: Repetitive motions or activities that put stress on the tendons and tendon sheaths can cause them to become inflamed. This is a common cause of tenosynovitis in the wrist, elbow, and knee.
* Injury: A direct injury to the tendon sheath can also cause inflammation. This can occur from a cut, puncture, or blunt force trauma.
* Infection: Bacterial or viral infections can also cause tenosynovitis. This is most commonly seen in the hand and wrist.
* Rheumatoid arthritis: This autoimmune disease can cause inflammation of the synovium, which is the lining of the tendon sheaths.
* Other medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes and thyroid problems, can also increase the risk of tenosynovitis.
