Understanding Post-Period Bleeding & Cramps: Possible Causes
Implantation bleeding: Occurs when a fertilized egg implants in the lining of the uterus. Symptoms include light bleeding and cramping, which can mimic menstruation. It usually occurs about 10-14 days after ovulation.
Hormonal imbalance: Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as an excess of estrogen, can cause uterine lining shedding causing bleeding and cramping similar to period.
Urinary tract infection (UTI): Can cause pelvic cramping similar feeling as period symptoms but will present additional symptoms like persistent urge to urinate, burning sensation while peeing, cloudy or foul-smelling urine, back pain etc.
Ectopic pregnancy: Occurs when fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, such as in the fallopian tube. In an ectopic pregnancy can trigger abnormal period-like bleeding accompanied by severe abdominal pain ,nausea ,dizziness or weakness especially one-sided
Fibroids or polyps: Non-cancerous growths in the uterus that can cause irregular bleeding with or without cramps
