Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT): Symptoms, Causes & What to Do
Palpitations: This is the most common symptom of supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and is often described as a "fluttering" or "racing" sensation in the chest. Palpitations can be brief or sustained.Chest pain: SVT can also cause chest pain, which is typically described as a tight, squeezing, or burning sensation. The pain may radiate to the jaw, neck, or arms.
Shortness of breath: Some people with SVT experience shortness of breath, especially if the arrhythmia is sustained.
Lightheadedness or dizziness: SVT can cause lightheadedness or dizziness, especially if it leads to a drop in blood pressure.
Syncope (fainting): In some cases, SVT can cause syncope, or fainting. This is a serious symptom that requires immediate medical attention.
Other symptoms: SVT can also cause other symptoms, such as anxiety, nausea, vomiting, and sweating.
