Hepatitis Transmission: Sexual Risks & Prevention
It is possible to transmit hepatitis B and C through sexual contact. Transmission of hepatitis A is uncommon.
- Hepatitis B.
Hepatitis B can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen, or other body fluids. It is not spread through casual contact, such as sharing food or drinks. Hepatitis B can be prevented with a vaccine.
- Hepatitis C.
Hepatitis C is spread through contact with infected blood. It is not spread through casual contact, such as sharing food or drinks. Hepatitis C can be prevented by practicing safe sex and avoiding sharing needles.
- Hepatitis A.
Hepatitis A is spread through contact with infected feces. It is not spread through sexual contact. Hepatitis A can be prevented with a vaccine.
