Post-Pap Smear Bleeding: What's Normal & When to Worry
Some spotting or light bleeding is normal after a smear test. This should clear up within a few days.
However, if you experience any of the following, it's important to talk to your doctor or nurse as soon as possible:
- Bleeding that is heavier than a period
- Bleeding that lasts longer than a few days
- Clots in your blood
- Pain in your lower abdomen or back
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
These could be signs of an infection or other problem, so it's important to get them checked out as soon as possible.
