Can pulling out your own hair become an addiction?
Trichotillomania, also known as hair-pulling disorder, is a mental illness that involves a person recurrently pulling out their hair. It is not an addiction.
This is a behavioural disorder in which a person feels the need to pull out their hair. It can be a physical response to stress, which can then become habitual and addictive in nature.
Trichotillomania is classified as an impulse control disorder, which means it is a mental health condition characterized by an inability to control an impulse to do something that is harmful to oneself or others.
