Gluten-Free Diet & Gas: What's Really Causing Bloating?
While some individuals with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease may experience reduced gas and bloating after eliminating gluten from their diet, it's not exclusively true that gluten-free food causes gas.
Consuming larger amounts of certain non-gluten foods can also lead to gas production. For example, beans, lentils, certain vegetables (such as broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower), and high-fiber foods can cause gas in some people.
Additionally, some gluten-free processed foods may contain ingredients that can cause gas, such as artificial sweeteners, certain starches, or certain gums used as thickeners.
If you're experiencing gas and bloating, it's best to consult a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and receive personalized dietary recommendations.
