Colostomy: Understanding Openings in the Large Intestine
A colostomy is an opening in the large intestines that lets fecal matter empty into an attached bag. It is created surgically when part of the large intestine is removed or bypassed, such as in the case of colon cancer or diverticulitis. The bag is usually worn on the outside of the body and must be emptied regularly.Digestive Health - Related Articles
