How to Release Mucus
One of the telltale signs of a cold is a congested nose. Mucus collects in the nasal cavity and sinus passages, making it difficult to breathe. This can cause other temporary, but annoying problems like snoring at night, which can disrupt others' sleep also. Thankfully, there is an easy way to relieve a stuffy head without drugs.Things You'll Need
- Hot shower
Instructions
Go into your bathroom. Turn on the light and shut the door. If there are windows, make sure they are also closed. Take a shower as usual.
Turn the faucet all the way to hot. You can wrap a towel around you, step out of the tub momentarily, and turn on the sink all the way to hot as well.
Get back in the shower, remove your towel and let the room get steamy. This should take only a minute or two, depending on the size of your bathroom.
Adjust the shower to a comfortable temperature. Stand under the water flow, and blow your nose under the water, as if you were blowing into a tissue. Rinse the mucus down the drain.
Repeat to remove any remaining mucus. Rinse out your nose to make sure it is clean.
