The notochord of vertebrates is replaced by a nerve cord when the animal becomes an adult?
This statement is not correct. Although the notochord is replaced by the vertebrae during embryonic development, the nerve cord is not replaced. The nerve cord, which later develops into the spinal cord and brain, is a vital component of the central nervous system and remains present throughout the vertebrate's life.Brain & Nervous System - Related Articles
