Effective Heel Pain Relief: Using Ice for Faster Recovery
Heels support body functions such as balance and posture, so it is important to treat heel pain when you notice it. Strenuous exercise or activity, ill-fitting or old shoes, or a more substantial injury can cause heel pain. Icing an injured heel is an inexpensive remedy to help reduce pain.Things You'll Need
- Plastic, zip-close bag
- Water
- Ice
- Hand towel or paper towel
Instructions
Fill a plastic, zip-close bag with ice. Add 1/4 cup of water to help the bag contour to your foot.
Squeeze the air out of the bag and seal.
Place a hand towel or paper towel over the affected area of your heel.
Place bag filled with ice on top of the towel and hold it in place for 15 to 20 minutes, replacing melted ice if needed.
Repeat up to three times daily.
