What happens if you do not treat pancreatic cancer?
Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive form of cancer that spreads quickly and is difficult to treat. Without treatment, it is generally fatal within months or a few years. The growth of the tumor can cause a variety of symptoms, depending on its location and size:
- Pain in the abdomen or back
- Weight loss
- Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
- Diarrhea
- Nausea and vomiting
- Difficulty swallowing
- Diabetes
As the cancer progresses, it can spread to other organs, such as the liver, lungs, and bones, causing further symptoms and complications. Without treatment, pancreatic cancer usually results in death due to organ failure, cachexia (wasting syndrome), or other complications. Early detection and prompt treatment are important for improving the chances of successful management and long-term survival. Therefore, if you experience any of the above symptoms, especially those associated with the pancreas, it is crucial to seek medical attention and consult with your physician.
