What are two things the liver does for your body?
* Produces bile, which helps digest fats. Bile is a fluid that is produced in the liver and stored in the gallbladder. When you eat a meal that contains fat, the gallbladder contracts and releases bile into the small intestine. Bile helps to break down fats into smaller droplets so that they can be more easily absorbed by the body.* Removes toxins from the blood. The liver is responsible for removing toxins from the blood, including alcohol, drugs, and metabolic waste products. These toxins are broken down in the liver and either excreted in the urine or passed through the intestines in the feces.
