DIY Lavender Body Lotion for Sleep: A Relaxing Recipe
The lavender plant has enjoyed a variety of uses for over 2,500 years. Its essential oil helps induce sleep and promote healing. Feng Shui experts have used it to renew the flow of energy and it can do the same for a tired, stressed-out human body. If you've been having problems with insomnia, you may want to make a lavender body lotion for a good night's sleep.Things You'll Need
- Unscented lotion
- Jar with lid
- Eyedropper
- Lavender essential oil
- Clary sage oil
- Wooden mixing paddle
Instructions
Pour about one-half cup of unscented lotion into a jar. Make sure the jar has a tight lid to help keep the lavender scent fresh for as long as possible.
Use an eyedropper to add three drops of essential oil of lavender to the lotion. Be careful not to spill the oil on your clothing or skin.
Add one drop of clary sage oil. This is a popular, fruity oil with relaxing properties that often adds the perfect touch to aromatherapy projects.
Mix the lavender, clary sage and lotion thoroughly with a wooden mixing paddle or stir stick. You can find these tools in craft stores or on websites that deal with making and mixing homemade lotions and potions.
Rub the lavender body lotion on your hands, arms and chest so that you inhale the fragrance all night long. Close the jar tightly after each use and store it in a cool location.
