How to Administer Thuja Essential Oil
Extracted from fresh leaves and twigs of the Thuja tree also known as White Cedar or American Arborvitae, Thuja Essential Oil is used in aromatherapy and herbal medicine. Aside from its medicinal benefits, Thuja oil has some practical uses. It can be used as an insect repellant. The oil has a toxic component that can kill mosquitoes, cockroaches, ticks and other parasitic insects. However, there is a strong precaution to use Thuja oil properly. Thuja oil is best used in addition to other similar essential oils for the best benefit. Excessive use could result to nervous and respiratory ailments. Also, pregnant women should not use Thuja oil.Things You'll Need
- 15 drops Thuja essential oil
- 10 drops citronella essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- 4 tbsp. calendula tincture
- 1 oz. spritzer bottle with spray top
- Funnel
- Label sticker
Instructions
Preparation
Pour the calendula tincture into the bottle by using a funnel.
Add 10 drops of citronella essential oil, 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 15 drops of thuja essential oil directly into the bottle.
Close the spray top securely.Shake carefully to mix the tincture and the essential oils.Label the spritzer bottle to identify its content.
Usage and Storage
Shake the bottle before every use to blend the essential oils.
Spray directly on skin. The repellant is for external use only. Take care not to spray into eyes, mouth, nose, ears or any body opening such as wound or cut.
Reapply every three or four hours or as needed.Store the spritz bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
