How does Mrs Lyons attempt to kill Jonstone in blood brothers?

In "Blood Brothers", Mrs Lyons does not attempt to kill Jonstone. It is Mrs Johnstone, who is Jonstone's birth mother but unable to raise him due to her financial situation, who attempts to suffocate him while he is a baby in order to allow him a better life with his adoptive family.
