How to Get Abdominal Binders Tight
Resuming normal activities can be challenging after having abdominal surgery. Many health-care providers will prescribe their patients use an abdominal binder after Cesarean-sections, hysterectomies or appendix surgery. The purpose of the binder is to help the person move around without difficulty while healing the incision. Although they are a simple yet effective tool in recovery, it is important that they are properly used in order to achieve the maximum effects of the abdominal binder.
Instructions
Place the abdominal binder behind your back, positioning the front of the binder right below the navel.
Stretch out both ends of the binder as far and as tight as you can handle.
Wrap one end of the binder around your stomach, making sure to hold it tightly.
Pull the other end of the binder around the stomach, overlapping the first end. Make sure it is pulled very taut.
Secure the abdominal binder by pressing the two ends of the binder together.
