Effective Ways to Minimize Surgical Scarring: A Comprehensive Guide
Most of us will end up having surgery at one point or another. Each time we're wheeled into the operating room, we come out with a permanent, undesirable memory: a scar. Using a doctor-recommended topical ointment will reduce the appearance of scars. When used correctly, the scar becomes almost invisible. This method is also much cheaper and safer than having another surgery to remove the scar.Things You'll Need
- Bar or gel soap for the body
- Topical scar ointment
Instructions
Caring for Scars
Wash the scar and surrounding area gently with soap and warm water.
Pat dry with a clean towel.
Apply topical ointment directly to the scar. Be sure to massage the ointment into the scar and surrounding skin.
Dress as your normally would. Protection, like a bandage, is not necessary.
Repeat Step 3 at least two times a day until the scar is no longer visible.
