AtriumLocation: The two atria are located at the upper part of the heart.
Function: Receives deoxygenated blood from the body through two major veins, the superior vena cava and the inferior vena cava, and pumps it to the ventricles.
Ventricle
Location: The two ventricles occupy the lower portion of the heart.
Function: Receives oxygenated blood from the atria, and then contracts to pump it out to the body. The left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the whole body through the aorta, while the right ventricle pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs through the pulmonary artery.
