Vasectomy Stitches: Dissolving Time & Types of Procedures

There are two types of vasectomies: those that use stitches and those that do not. If the surgeon closes the skin with sutures, the absorbable stitches take about 3 to 6 months to dissolve. If the surgeon uses a surgical glue to close the skin, there are no stitches present to dissolve.
