Tizanidine and Surgery: What You Need to Know
No, it's not recommended to take Tizanidine within a week of surgery.
Tizanidine is a muscle relaxant classified as a centrally-acting alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. Because of its pharmacologic properties, it can cause hypotension and bradycardia, which can complicate anesthesia induction. This is why you usually shouldn’t take it for seven to 10 days before having certain types of surgery.
