How to Recover From Sclerotherapy
Cosmetic surgery is very popular in the United States. Both women and men seek cosmetic procedures such as liposuction or hair removal. A chief complaint of many women is the appearance of spider-like veins in the legs. Sclerotherapy is the answer for this condition. Sclerotherapy is a direct injection of a saline or chemical solution into the veins that causes them to collapse. Here's how to recover from this procedure.
Instructions
Wear compression hose for at least 7 days following sclerotherapy. Compression helps prevent clotting and helps you to recover more quickly from sclerotherapy.
Walk at least 30 minutes every day as you recover from sclerotherapy. Doctors encourage physical activity immediately following sclerotherapy as circulation hastens recovery. Walk outdoors or on a treadmill.
Follow-up weekly with your doctor so he can drain old blood from the veins. This prevents discoloration down the road.
Avoid strenuous activity for a few days. While doctors prescribe walking as part of the recovery routine, wait on weightlifting or other strenuous exercise for a few days following sclerotherapy.
Return to your normal activities as soon as possible. Inactivity is not advisable for anyone who is recovering from sclerotherapy. Within a week, you should be doing everything you did before the procedure.
