What dressing is used after a c-section?
After a c-section, the incision site will be covered with a sterile dressing. The dressing is typically made of a material called Adaptic, which is a non-stick, absorbent dressing that helps to protect the wound and keep it clean. Over the Adaptic dressing, a clear, waterproof dressing is often applied to provide a barrier against moisture. This outer dressing often has an adhesive border that helps to keep it in place.
In some cases, an additional dressing called Mepilex may be used. Mepilex is a silicone-based dressing that helps to reduce pain and scarring and can also be left on for longer periods than other types of dressings.
The type of dressing used will depend on the specific needs of the patient and the preferences of the healthcare provider.
