Recognizing Fullness: Signs Your Baby is Satisfied After Breastfeeding
Signs that a baby is full after breastfeeding include:
- Latching on and off: A baby will typically latch on and off the breast several times during a feeding, and will let go when they are satisfied.
- Sucking slowly: A baby who is satiated will often start to suck slowly, or take long pauses in between suckling.
- Falling asleep: A baby will often fall asleep at the breast when they are full.
- Pulling away: A baby may pull away from the breast when they are finished feeding, or turn their head away.
- Crying: A baby who is still hungry will often start to fuss or cry.
