Implantation Bleeding: What It Is & What to Expect
Implantation bleeding is a light vaginal bleeding that can occur when a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall. It typically happens 10 to 14 days after conception, and it usually lasts for just a few days. The blood is usually pink or brown in color, and it is often so light that it is only noticeable when wiping after using the bathroom.
Implantation bleeding is not the same as a menstrual period. A menstrual period is a heavier flow of blood that occurs monthly due to the shedding of the uterine lining. Implantation bleeding is much lighter and it only lasts for a few days.
If you are not sure whether you are experiencing implantation bleeding or a menstrual period, you should talk to your doctor.
