Workplace Fire Safety: Essential Guidelines for Employers & Employees
Fire safety should be observed by all employees. Employers should have information posted in common areas to keep employees informed of the escape routes and where to find access to fire extinguishers.-
Escape Routes
-
All escape routes should be well marked. Every building should have at least two escapes in separate areas.
Fire Doors
-
All fire doors must be unlocked and kept clear while employees are working in a building.
Exit Signs
-
All exit signs must be clearly visible at all times.
Fire Extinguishers
-
Extinguishers must be maintained and kept in operating condition. Instructions should be given to all employees on the correct operating procedures.
Sprinkler Systems
-
Sprinklers should be up to local code and maintained as necessary.
