The sale of human organs or body parts is generally prohibited in most countries around the world. Most developed countries have laws against it. In the United States, for example, the National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA) prohibits the buying and selling of organs for transplant. Similarly, in the United Kingdom, the Human Tissue Act (2004) makes it illegal to sell organs or tissues for transplant.
