Effective Calf Mite Treatment: A Step-by-Step Guide
Mites are tiny insects that live on dogs, cats, horses, cattle and people. They cause itching, skin irritation and even loss of hair from scratching. The method for ridding livestock of mites can also be applied to some other animals.Things You'll Need
- Sock (no holes)
- Seven Dust powder, 10%
- Latex gloves
Instructions
Bathe your calf. Use an insecticidal soap to help kill as many mites as possible. Dry the calf thoroughly.
Fill a sock with 10% Seven Dust powder. Tie the sock closed and make sure there are no holes.
Put on a latex glove and rub the calf down with the sock. Cover the calf from the forelock all along the back, paying special attention to the neck area. This should kill any new mites that hatch. Rub down the calf once a week until you're sure the mites are gone entirely. It shouldn't take more than two months.
