How to Make a Dressing for a Blister
Blisters form when your body tries to create a natural barrier between your skin and whatever is constantly rubbing against it. As a result, cushiony puss-filled pockets form at the site of the irritation. Blisters are most commonly seen on hands and feet and can be very painful. Making a dressing for a blister is easy, and requires proper cleaning of the affected area and using a bandage that will allow it to breathe and won't hold in moisture.Things You'll Need
- Mild soap
- First-aid needle
- Rubbing alcohol
- Cotton balls
- Waterproof bandage
- First-aid scissors
Instructions
Wash the blister gently with warm water and a mild soap. Do not scrub and be careful not to tear the blister. Pat dry.
Soak the tip of a first-aid needle in some rubbing alcohol and poke a small hole in the side of the blister. Drain all liquid, soaking it up with a cotton ball.
Cut a waterproof bandage with first-aid scissors so that it fits over the blister. Make sure the area is completely dry when you apply the bandage. The dressing will provide protection against infection.
