DRABCD Guide: A Step-by-Step First Aid Procedure
DRABCD is an acronym used in first aid to help remember the steps to take in the event of a medical emergency. It stands for:
D - Danger: Quickly assess the scene for any dangers that could harm you or the person in need of help.
R - Response: Check the person for responsiveness by gently shaking and shouting "Are you okay?" If the person is unresponsive, call for help.
A - Airway: Check the person's airway to ensure it is clear and unobstructed. If necessary, perform the Heimlich maneuver or CPR to clear the airway.
B - Breathing: Check the person's breathing. If the person is not breathing, start rescue breathing.
C - Circulation: Check the person's pulse to assess their circulation. If the person does not have a pulse, start CPR.
D - Defibrillation: If the person is in cardiac arrest, use an automated external defibrillator (AED) if available.
