Welder's Flash Treatment: Does Raw Potato Really Work?
Welder's flash is also known as arc eye or flash burns. It occurs when your eyes are exposed to a great deal of ultraviolet light. The condition makes the cornea become inflamed. Symptoms include watery eyes, sensitivity to light and mild to severe pain; it can last for approximately 24 hours. Raw potato is recommended to treat welder's flash since it has healing properties that can relieve pain from burns and reduce swelling.Things You'll Need
- 1 small raw potato
- Water
- Potato peeler
- Tablespoon
- Thin washcloth
Instructions
Wash 1 small raw potato with cold water. Peel the skin from the potato with a potato peeler; grate half of the potato into small pieces.
Dampen a thin washcloth with water and wring the excess moisture from it. Lay the washcloth flat on table.
Place 1 tbsp. of raw potatoes in the center of the washcloth. Place another spoonful of potatoes next to it. Fold the washcloth closed.
Place the washcloth in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to chill it, then remove it.
Lie down on the couch and close your eyes. Place the washcloth over your face; position the raw potatoes over each eye.
Remain lying down for 15 minutes so your eyes can absorb the potatoes' nutrients. Return the washcloth to refrigerator when you finish. Apply the washcloth two more times during the day, a few hours apart, if necessary.
