How to Get Steri Strips to Stick
Steri-Strips are used to cover small wounds and can adhere for seven to 14 days if applied properly. They are also flexible enough to be used in areas where there is a small amount of bending or stretching, but they are not able to handle the area on the underside of the wrist or the back of the elbow. Creating a clear and dry surface will help Steri-Strips cling thoroughly to the skin, providing enough protection for small wounds to heal without further problems.
Instructions
Clean the wound. Rinse the wound thoroughly with mild soap and water. If the wound is still bleeding, clean it again until you have the bleeding under control.
Dry the skin surrounding the wound. Use an alcohol pad, or dab it lightly with a paper towel or other highly absorbent tissue. Be careful to touch the wound itself as little as possible during this process to prevent further damage.
Place the Steri-Strip at a 90-degree angle to the wound, and push down firmly on the sticky parts. Lightly push down with your fingernail if necessary to let the Steri-Strips cling more firmly to the skin.
