Ambulance Accidents: Are Emergency Vehicles Exempt from Traffic Laws?
In most jurisdictions, emergency vehicles like ambulances are exempt from certain traffic laws when responding to emergencies. This includes the requirement to stop after an accident. However, the exemption is not absolute, and the ambulance driver may still be held liable if they were driving recklessly ornegligently.In the case of a speeding ambulance, the driver would likely be considered to be negligent, and therefore would be held liable for any damages caused by the accident.
