Protecting Your Belongings: Pest Control in Storage Units
A responsible storage facility should have an effective pest control program that includes protection against insects that can damage your property. Pest control typically consists of bait boxes, electrical zappers, spraying and regular inspections.-
Bait Boxes
-
The storage facility should have bait boxes both inside and outside the units, and it should detail the location of those boxes for customers.
Spraying
-
There should be regular spraying of storage units and investigation of any infestations to keep insects from entering and multiplying.
Lighting
-
There should not be any light shining on entrances and exits to draw insects. Vegetation should not grow up against the storage buildings.
Food
-
Do not put food in your storage unit. Storage facilities other than food warehouses do not have the specialized pest control for protecting food.
Climate Control
-
Climate-controlled storage, although more expensive, does not guarantee protection against insects. Stable temperature and humidity levels alone do not sufficiently discourage insects from entering your storage unit.
