What are all the symptoms of stress?
Stress is a normal part of life, but too much stress can have negative effects on our physical and mental health. There are many different symptoms of stress, which can vary from person to person. Some of the most common symptoms include:
Physical symptoms:
- Headaches
- Muscle tension or pain
- Fatigue
- Difficulty sleeping
- Digestive problems
- Changes in appetite
- Increased heart rate and breathing
- Chest pain
- Dizziness
- Sweating
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
- Skin problems
- Menstrual irregularities
Mental symptoms:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Mood swings
- Irritability
- Increased sensitivity to criticism
- Feeling overwhelmed or unable to cope
- Poor concentration
- Difficulty making decisions
- Forgetfulness
- Loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyable
Behavioural symptoms:
- Avoidance of situations that cause stress
- Procrastination
- Increased smoking, drinking, or drug use
- Social isolation

- Compulsive behaviours

- Skin picking
- Pacing
