Delusions vs. Hallucinations vs. Paranoia: Understanding the Differences
No, delusions are not the same as hallucinations or paranoia.
Delusions are fixed beliefs that are not based in reality. They can be persecutory, grandiose, or religious in nature. Hallucinations are sensory experiences that occur in the absence of any external stimuli. Paranoia is a feeling of distrust or suspicion towards others.
While delusions and hallucinations can sometimes occur together, they are not the same condition. Delusions are more closely related to paranoia than hallucinations are.
