How to Cope With Depression in College
It isn't uncommon to feel sad, lonely or depressed during your college years. You've left home and you're dealing with high levels of academic pressure, not to mention the stress of the college dating scene. Whatever the causes may be, coping with depression in college is tough. Read on to find out how you can cope with depression so that it doesn't get the best of your college experience.

Seek treatment. Most universities have a counseling center on campus where you can meet regularly with a counselor. If your college doesn't have a counseling center, schedule an appointment at the student health center to get a recommendation from your doctor on where to seek treatment.
Lean on your friends and family for support. Your true friends will not judge you for feeling depressed, so don't be afraid to ask for their help and support during this tough time.
Sleep at least seven to eight hours a night. It is easy to be sleep deprived in college, but remember that sleep deprivation feeds your depression. Study earlier in the day so that you can get to sleep at a decent hour each night.
Get involved in extracurricular activities on campus. Participating in activities that you enjoy will help you to feel happier and will reduce stress.
Exercise regularly and eat healthily. Both your mind and body will feel the positive effects of healthy eating and regular exercise.
Allow yourself time to relax. College life can be extremely busy and stressful. Give yourself time each day to be alone, breathe, meditate, pray or listen to music.
