Agglutination: Definition & Medical Significance

The medical term meaning "process of being stuck together" is agglutination. Agglutination is the clumping together of cells or particles, usually as a result of the interaction of antibodies with antigens. It can be induced in vitro by mixing antiserum with a suspension of cells or particles that carry the corresponding antigen, or it can occur in vivo as a result of an immune response to a foreign substance.
