What is the difference between level 1 nursing care and 2 in state of Tennessee?

Level 1 Nursing Care

* Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and toileting

* Provides basic nursing care, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and wound care

* Monitors the patient's condition and reports any changes to the registered nurse (RN)

Level 2 Nursing Care

* Provides more complex nursing care, such as administering IV medications, managing complex wounds, and providing respiratory therapy

* Monitors the patient's condition more closely and reports any changes to the RN more frequently

* May also provide emotional support and counseling to the patient and family

Differences Between Level 1 and Level 2 Nursing Care

The main difference between level 1 and level 2 nursing care is the level of complexity of the care provided. Level 1 nursing care is more basic, while level 2 nursing care is more complex. Level 2 nurses also typically have more education and experience than level 1 nurses.

In the state of Tennessee, level 1 nursing care is provided by licensed practical nurses (LPNs), while level 2 nursing care is provided by RNs. LPNs are required to have a diploma or degree from an accredited nursing program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN). RNs are required to have a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program and pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
