Nurse to Doctor: Understanding the Path & Advanced Practice Options

A nurse cannot become a doctor without returning to school and completing medical school. Nursing and medicine are two separate professions with different educational requirements. However, there are several advanced practice nursing roles, such as nurse practitioners and certified nurse midwives, that allow nurses to provide some of the same services as physicians.
