How long after high school does it take to become a Registered Nurse?

The time it takes to become a Registered Nurse (RN) can vary depending on your education and career path. There are three different paths to becoming an RN:

1. Diploma in Nursing:

- Time: Typically takes 2-3 years to complete.

- Education: Nursing diploma programs are offered by hospitals, community colleges, and vocational schools.

2. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN):

- Time: Usually takes 2-3 years to complete.

- Education: ADN programs are available at community colleges and some technical schools.

3. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN):

- Time: Typically takes 4 years to complete.

- Education: BSN programs are offered by most four-year colleges and universities.

After completing one of these education programs, you need to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) in order to get your RN license and work as a Registered Nurse.
