Colorado Medical Assistant Certification Requirements: Are You Ready?

In Colorado, a medical assistant is required to be certified in order to perform patient care tasks. The Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) licenses medical assistants and sets the requirements for certification.

To be eligible for certification as a medical assistant in Colorado, an applicant must:

- Be at least 18 years old

- Have a high school diploma or equivalent

- Have completed an accredited medical assisting program

- Pass the Colorado Medical Assistant Certification Exam

Once an applicant has met these requirements, they can apply for certification through DORA. The application fee is $100 and the certification exam fee is $150.
