A patient financial services manager works in a health care setting and manages the staff who work with patients to create affordable billing plans after medical services are rendered.-
Duties

A patient financial services manager is responsible for processing appeals, reviewing procedures and complaints, and making sure medical records processes run smoothly. He also works with the business office within the health care setting and ensures that all federal and state regulations are met. In addition, he facilitates any reviews into medical coding issues and oversees the staff in the patient accounting department.
Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is generally required for the position. Experience working in a health care setting or in patient accounting is also desirable.
Training and Skills

A patient financial services manager must have strong leadership skills. She also must be analytical and able to solve problems quickly. She must understand medical accounting terminology and billing systems, as well as have experience using spreadsheet and coding programs. Effective communication is also an important asset in the position.
