As of 2022, there are approximately 91.7 million uninsured people in the United States. The uninsured rate dropped below 10% for the first time in 2015 after the implementation of major provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), but has fluctuated somewhat in recent years.
Additionally, an estimated 456 million people worldwide - approximately half of the world's population - do not have health insurance. Most do not have access to any form of comprehensive medical care.
